A charity continuing to provide vital support to the community as lockdown restrictions ease has been boosted by the support of the Pearly Queen of Clapton.

Teresa Watts, who lives in Loughton, has agreed to become an ambassador for 3food4u.

Founder of the community project Pesh Kapasiawala said: “Teresa is an amazing community champion, a serial fundraiser and a completely selfless and compassionate person. She shares our ethos of treating and supporting people humanely with dignity and respect.

“Teresa runs a baby bank with LB Redbridge providing free essentials including buggies, baskets, changing mats, clothes, nappies, milk and much more to any mother that needs them without question or referral. We are very pleased and honoured to be working with her.”

Teresa said: "I’m so looking forward to supporting your fantastic food bank. I have observed how people in deprivation have been embraced at the door and are welcomed and reassured.

“A hungry family is a hungry family regardless of the area they come from, your ethos of being non-judgemental is highlighted in the way you reassure the public when they are queuing nervously outside.

“I wish you all the very best for the future, watching you go from strength to strength is testament to your hard work Pesh and your amazing team of volunteers. Congratulations to you all."

3food4u offers free groceries, clothes and essentials without assessment or referral to anyone that needs it.
